Of friends and flying...

We spent a lot of time wandering with friends this week.  Though our homes are separated by an hour's drive, that time seems inconsequential now, as our friendships continue to grow and take flight.

One visit was to a dropzone nearby where parachutists from all over the world come to this little town to train and practice for competition.  While many dropzones around the globe are covered in snow and cold, this one is one of the few that can offer warmer, clear blue skies.

A few days later and a little closer to home, we went on a boat tour of a gorgeous chain of lakes, lined with million dollar homes and the scent of quaintness and history.

Along for the ride was a chill in the air we probably could have done without :).

And so our week wrapped up with a little of trying something new...

a lot of what we normally do...

with plenty of laughter and giggles in between...

We have seen and done much this week, not unlike many other weeks. What made this week so sweet was the time spent discovering with new friends from Germany, and friends we are still getting to know.  All that we have shared, our common thoughts and ideas, the French pastries, the laughter, and our dreams of rendezvousing in Tuscany will be cherished for days to come.

I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.
I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, who has sight so keen and strong
That it can follow the flight of song?
Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
