Yarn Along ~ Unfinished business

Joining Ginny in Yarn Along again today...

Have you ever gotten soooo close to finishing a project when you realize that, OH NO, I am running out of yarn???  Never, right? The sad thing is I had had enough, but returned the last ball in excitement and anticipation to purchase new yarn for the next project.  So here lays my apron, tired and unfinished with only the strap left....

Meanwhile impatient balls of new yarn still sit and wait, screaming "What about me! What about me!" And oh boy I can't wait to dive into those :).  Hopefully next week I'll have something to show....

The book I giddily added to my library is Vogue Knitting  The Ultimate Knitting Book.   This book is quite enjoyable as it includes a history of knitting, wonderful, precise pictures and how-to's on stitches, blocking, weaving, and designing a garment to name a few, though I won't be doing that for a long while.  I am also listening to The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton.  LOVE this mystery so far.   Can't wait to see what you all are reading and yarning!! Have a great week!!

  1. MJ, go to the yarn store and get the yarn to finish your apron! You need to finish it so it can be worn as apron are meant to be.
Looking forward to seeing what project you decide on from all the yummy yarn in your basket.
    Warmly,
    Tracey

  3. I've got a few *shelves* of yarn now yelling at me. "Pick me! Pick me!" Who will be next?
    Have a fun week!

  4. PS. Thanks for your sweet comment. :-)
Sometime I'd like to have an email chat about Montessori. -When I can wrap my mind around it.

  5. The apron looks lovely - I find it really hard to resist the lure of a new project and stick with seeing the old one through - I just get too excited about making a start on the next thing.

I am however, still plugging away at A's blanket - it's slowly coming along, but I only seem to find the time to do some on the odd evening each week, so progress is slow to say the least. Good job she's patient!

As for reading material: I am currently reading a book about Buddhism, which is fascinating and really resonating with me: re-reading Alfie Kohn, just because I felt like a refresher; and as light relief reading "The Blessing" by Nancy Mitford - I wasn't sure I was going to like it but I am really enjoying it now, to the point where I am reading until my eyes can stay open no longer!

  6. Oh no - how frustrating!

I'm reading a gardening book at the moment - The Virgin Gardener - I'm hoping it will give me lots of inspiration. It's full of beautiful pictures.

Thank you for your lovely comment. It really touched my heart. x

  7. Thank you MJ for your sweet and kind comment. You are such an inspiration. I am glad to have "met" you!
Beautiful piece! I love your basket. If I left my yarn out like that there would be nothing left of it-as in it would be all kinds of tangled. We don't have a cat, just really busy children who like yarn. Good luck finishing!

  8. Go get that yarn! Nothing like having a project just sit there mocking you with 2 last rows to go and no yarn to knit with...

I added you to my reader- I'm excited to see your families journey with unschooling and Montessori (which is part of our odd homeschooling mix too!)

  14. LOVING that apron!!! Can't wait to see it when it's finished... You know that I'm a fan of the apron. My rock-a-billy pin up one that my sister in law got me for the holidays is the BEST.. But this comes in close second... :)

  17. Your apron looks great! You *must* finish it. If I have enough yarn to finish the sweater I am working on it will be a miracle ;-)
