taught, learned, and joy

I have to tell you friends that I am glad this week is over! It's been busy, it's been hectic, and in between it all I have felt like a hungry mouse scrounging for tiny crumbs of solitude. You'll have to forgive me if I begin to slip on my regular visits to your spaces as crunch time has arrived. I doubt this hurried feeling will leave my chest until March 1st, when I am on the road headed west.

I have been taught much on my way to here. It's so easy to forget, it's almost unfair. So I wrote some of them down, to remind myself that I don't have to relive any mistakes, especially when the chaos and craziness really hits :).

Motherhood and marriage taught me that I can juggle 10 different things at once.
Patience taught me that juggling takes practice, and I will drop things all the time.
Perseverance taught me to always try again.
Compassion taught me that I am surrounded in a sea of jugglers.
Humility taught me that it's okay to ask for help.
Awareness taught me to remember that life still happens no matter how much I can juggle.
Simplicity and Balance taught me that I can slow down, take breaks, or stop at any time.
Intention taught me that juggling means nothing, if I don't remind myself what I'm juggling for.
And then there's Joy.
Joy has taught me that there is plenty of it to have, no matter what I am doing, where I'm going, or how much I am juggling.

Joy is:

steam rising from with the smell of hot, fragrant tea

reflecting water droplets resting on a cold window

soft morning kisses on the cheek from a sleepy boy

a gold leaf, curling in it's last colorful moments

treasures tucked safely in a journal to remind me of my favorite things

Joy Pockets normally with Monica, are being hosted by Melissa through January as Mon takes a break. (thanks Melissa!)

Wishing you a beautiful weekend friends.
 xoxo

  2. Love the image of a juggler! I can see one now, throwing flaming sticks with a big smile on her face, she wouldn't have it any other way.
March 1st will be here before you know it, how exciting. I would love to uproot from my stagnant, sleepy Georgia town. I guess I will live vicariously through you ;) Happy weekend, MJ!

  4. my favourite "taught me that juggling means nothing, if I don't remind myself what I'm juggling for"

seems we're both heading for craziness for a few months (and then some lol). let's remind each other, of breathing, along the way. ;)

  6. this is such a beautiful post, my dear. Springtime in the mountains sounds so dreamy, and I look forward to reading about the peace you find along the way of your journey. Multitasking is a great skill to have, but sometimes I wish I lacked it so I could have a clear focus -- one singular lens to look through at a time.

  9. So beautiful, MJ. I love all of the things you have learned, and how you tie them together with such beautiful bits of joy. It is a busy month for you, but clearly you're holding on to your thoughtful, reflective self through it. An inspiration!

  11. Beautiful, MJ... straight from the heart. Or at least that is how I feel it, straight from your heart to mine. Thank you.

    And remember to breathe...

  12. wishing you some joy-filled moments leading up to your adventure out west. Take care of yourself- it's easy for me to forget to eat and sleep when I have that icky hurried feeling rising and flowing out of my chest.

  13. Every time you mention your move, I think of all the moving I have done in my life-it is a stressful time and it can be overwhelming. Make lots of lists and keep in mind it is temporary!! Love your joy pockets :)

  17. Soulful and beautiful were the first two words that came to mind after reading this. Transitions can be hectic, no doubt. I think you'll find Boulder to be worth it.

  19. I haven't stopped by your site in a few weeks and have just noticed that you're moving to CO. I have called CO my home for almost half my life (moved here from the Peach state almost 18 years).
    Just want you to know:
There is nothing like the CO blue bird sky. There is nothing like the 60 degree days in January. There is nothing like a CO grown peach. There is nothing like a wet, warm spring snow falling on top of the tulips. There is nothing like 300+ days of sunshine. There is nothing like watching the sun slip behind the mountains at the end of the day. There is nothing like the smell of the forest pines on a warm summer day.
This state is magical and it will surely cast its spell on you.
    Enjoy!
