7 days

Seven days later and I think, wow, how quickly we acclimate. There was a time when 65 degrees was cold for me. Today, 65 feels fabulous and I walk coatless. There was a time when going to the grocery store was a 15 minute drive. Today, we walk 5 minutes. There was a time when hiking meant getting in the car and driving 25 minutes to a local preserve. Today, it's a 10 minute walk and there is no preserve, just one of many trails natural to the landscape and leading to views like these. And we climb, and we basque, and we gasp, and we continue to squeeze and open our eyes to make sure we are truly where we had always imagined ourselves to be.

I would be lying if I said it's been all happy daydreams. It's been challenging for the kids with everything so different and so new, and it's been stressful for us to be in-between homes and without routine. We said goodbye to Nana (my MIL) yesterday as she flew back home to Florida. We've been so spoiled having her here, having her in general, as she has been there for us and for the kids since the beginning. I miss my own mother, my nephews, our homeschool friends, and my own normal routine of blogging, knitting, reading. I should be clear, there is no whining here :). Just awareness that yin and yang are alive and well, and for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

After looking at several neighborhoods, I believe we may have found a place to call home. I'm anxious. I'm nervous. I'm uncertain. I'm excited. I'm ready.

Happy Tuesday

♥

in the backyard this morning, there were NINE!

  6. yes the yin and yang. so true. i hope you all find the beauty everyday and that you are able to keep strong for the kids. transitions are challenging. i always need to remind myself that things eventually settle (never as soon as i like, but they always do) into some kind of normal and that the kids adjust. keep posting pics!

  9. Just loving the pictures and the mountains and the trees!! If I closed my eyes and imagined... it almost looks like New York, but the mountains seem a little bigger there. Enjoy every moment!

  10. Welcome Home, MJ! You have so many wonderful adventures ahead of you. A library reading group is a good idea. I love being able to walk to do most of my errands ... you will too! Challenges are good with so many doors to be opened. Enjoy!

  11. I can feel your joy and excitement!! Your positive outlook on this phase is breathtaking, as well as the views! WOW!!

I'm giggling at your excitement of nine deer. :) I grew up in the woods. I've lived in my current home in the woods for 12 years. And I still get excited when all the deer and other wildlife come visiting in the yard. I don't think it's something I'll ever get tired of.

We had five deer in our yard this morning :) They were my medicine for the day. xoxo

  17. it's so strange, but despite reading all your posts (with rare misses) i seem to have gaps in your adventure. like the exact why of leaving, the choice of destination.... is this where you all had always decided to go/stay?

i would love a little summary post, lol

  18. Glad your time in this new place is feeling good, amazing the way your body adapts to the temp changes isn't it? I remember laughing at being cold when I lived in Key West and thinking "gee if I were home in Maine I would be swimming it would be so warm". Good luck with the new neighborhood.

  20. you are doing what many fear to do...pack it up and follow your heart,
Of course you will grieve what is behind you, family, etc... but you know that what you are doing is meant to be. You don't sound like you are whining at all. No one said it would be easy.
    You are beautiful to watch.
    XO
