Deception

I've been deceived.
This pretty cake, this swirly tempest of chocolate gradient roses, capped with dark shavings, yellow in the middle with stripes of chocolate in-between, fooled me with its wavy smiles. No ecstatic bite, no longing savor left on our tongues, nothing but a wasted sugar rush to the head, so not worthy of the calories packed inside. Instead of fluffy, light and moist, I found sickly sweet and dense, a tragedy burdened with flavorlessness.

*Sigh*

It's okay, I've had enough heavenly cakes to accept the ones that don't reach that high.

Yet. I still feel cheated. I don't believe in beginning my 42nd trip around the sun with a soul-less cake, do you?

I claim the right to have a do-over!!!

And yes, I just spent a whole post discussing cake. With a title like "Deception", were you hoping for something creamier? Something with more substance???

Yeah, me too...
