when we see the inevitable truth

The inevitable truth is that it is time for me to migrate. I am taking photos, I am writing, I have hoards to say, but I am not inspired to share it here. I look at my Blogger page and I feel like "blecht." I think I have squeezed everything I could out of Blogger. I am done--- NOT with blogging (though my absence may suggest otherwise), but with Blogger. I have been complaining to myself for about a year now and it's time I packed my thoughts, words and photos and switch over to Wordpress.

I will forever be grateful to Blogger for giving me the platform and courage to capture and cement the words that ping pong around my head onto a published screen. Change is always afoot and I gladly open my door when it arrives.

Meanwhile have you Unravelled 2013 and chosen a word for 2014 yet?  If not, the workbook can be downloaded here. I have been doing Susannah's annual reflections for 3 years now, and there are two words I can say about this process: it works. I look forward to sharing my new word with you on Wordpress soon.

So with that I say goodbye to 2013, goodbye to Blogger, and Happy Happy New Year!!!

Voice and bloom

And it comes down to finding one voice. Our own true voice that bellows fearlessly from the pit of our bellies. One that assures that there is a purpose to our persistent pursuit of passion, and one that resonates with the vibrations of our very soul. This voice expels with each breath, a heart that is resoundingly full, and an intuitive understanding of our place in this world.

This is my hope for 2013, to connect wholeheartedly with my voice, my mechanism of expression, a pathway to reaching and stretching myself creatively beyond what I have imagined. I have been gifted with being able to explore many creative avenues for where my voice can flourish. Yet, I lack focus, I lack an intuitive understanding where my energies need to lie. Whether my voice is here burgeoning in something I can already do or am capable of I do not know. And yet what I do know is that there will be no guarantee that what I pursue with devout dedication will provide a means to an end---save one thing, an opportunity to bloom with a brightness that burns from within. And this for me, is worth all the beckoning.

May this year help you find your bloom as well....

Happy New Year to you all!!

ps. Do you have a word for the year?

A name

I've lost a few days and have confused Saturday with Sunday and Friday with Saturday. Maybe I should be more worried, but I am not.
Maybe I should be more hurried, but I am not.
Maybe I should stop eating so much chocolate, but I won't.
Maybe I should not pour a glass of wine this early, but I will.
And the randomness brought by blurred lines keeps my life slow but interesting.

The chill of low temperatures have knocked at my bones these past several days, but don't stay past their welcome thanks to tea, tomato soup, and long, hot baths. I am close to finishing one book only to promptly be romanced by the line of untouched spines waiting quietly on my bookshelf. I have decided that I have grown worse at reading books as I expand my line of sight. There are too many other things that draw me to distraction-- like podcasts and knitting,  like playing with the new lens and dreaming of splashy combinations between waxed linen thread and paper for handmade books. My ears long to twitch at the divine sound of thread pulling through paper.

The new year is almost here and I am nearly convinced of the word that is to be my guide. Though my lack of focus would make me think it should be "focus" or my desire to create would make me think it should be "create", the loss of the boundaries between my days has had me look deeper into letting go of the obvious. I wonder what keeps me afloat, I wonder about the under current that propels my dreams and what, if any, is its name.

I hunker down to wait, and listen for more.

I am wishing you a safe and beautiful entry into 2013. I will see you on the flip side my friends...

In a word and a gift....

"Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny." ~ Unknown

I do love words, probably more than I should. It is that part of me that enjoys defining things, creating boundaries and edges to things I can't see but only feel. Last year I had this quote on my blog for nearly the entire year:

"How does one become a butterfly?" she asked pensively. "You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar." ~ Trina Paulus, Hope for the Flowers

Evolve was my word for 2011. With the blog still being fairly new, and with the discovery of other blogs giving me daily inspiration, I felt change already happening within. I felt that 2011 was going to be about redefining myself, and it was more than I could have ever hoped for. And as if the universe had one last push for me, the last quarter of 2011 brought about the selling of our house, opening the door to pursue our dream of moving to the mountains.

So, for 2012, Open is what I have chosen. With my eyes, heart, and mind wide open-- this is how I want to receive 2012. With release of expectations, surrender of control, and the squelching of fear, I want to accept whatever this year has to offer. And I want to enjoy the ride!! I want to breathe in the adventure that awaits, and I want to acknowledge that these moments are not just countless minutes passing by, but the infusion of life into long awaited dreams.

And now a gift for you to help kick off the new year. Last year, through Soule Mama, I discovered the Moon Phase Calendar. I ADORE this calendar and know you will too. The winner will receive the black and white 2012 calendar. To enter, just leave a comment below, maybe telling me what your word is for the year :). If you want one additional chance, you can blog or post on Facebook or Twitter. I will randomly choose a winner next Monday January 9.

Postings again may be sparse this week as I continue to nurse my girl (104 temp!), begin the arduous task of packing, and try to catch up on your spaces. Cheers to you!!!

Renewal

As the hours drip by and descend on 2012, I am left feeling changed, grounded and hopeful with what 2011 has given me. I have been shaken through to the fine fibers of my bones, with older creases mending and new creases forming. This is how we learn. The past year has not only given me new passions, new friends, and new experiences, but also a new perspective on what primarily has been known to me as familiar. Thanks to writing and recording in this space, embracing the now has meant more to me than it has in recent years. I have seen that "letting go" has become a repetitive ritual among all of us, allowing me to never feel alone in my quest for spiritual and emotional renewal.

So with reflection, deep gratitude, and excited anticipation, I raise my virtual glass to you and say "CHEERS!" I am truly honored and humbled to travel this road with you :)...

With love and light, may your dreams come true in 2012...

Happy New Year....
xoxo
