A road trip!! Yep, we've packed the car, brought our snacks and DVDs (audiobook for moi :)), and are headed out early this morning. On a 6 hour drive going north, we're meeting some old friends today (who had to travel 17 hours south--we have it easy)! So while writing this week may be scarce, I hope to have a plethora of pictures to share.
In the meantime, and in anticipation of wrapping up the weekend, I wanted to leave you with some wonderful things I found the past few days. Hope they light a spark in you, like they did in me...
• A "bad" mother poses a question for all women --what's your story?
• And a damn fine response in return...
• The BEST advice on how to steal like an artist---stay this one till the end, it's worth it!
• Okay, okay, this one is nothing new to most of us homeschoolers and unschoolers, but the message is no less important to hear :).
• I WILL make this, oh yes, I will...
• Coolest paint project ever!!
• Ten things my children are definitely teaching me...
Linking with Amanda for weekending... have a great week :).
Cheers!!!
xx oo

The Discovery Place
Hands down, the best hand's on kids' museum I have ever been to is in Charlotte, NC.. The Discovery Place, located downtown, was a happenstance stop for tired bodies (and minds) from hours of traveling in the car. Honestly pictures don't do justice as the experience was a string of constant attractions beginning with a ballet company practicing in an open windowed room, to a rainforest exhibit of live, roaming exotic species, to a tour of frogs, to a funny presentation on friendly food bacteria, to experiments with pond water, to lying on a bed of nails, to an aquarium, to dancing iron powder (from sound waves), to building robotics. The list goes on really and that was all in 2 hours. I would have stayed in Charlotte an extra day just for this museum, we all would have.

Oh Savannah
We made it up to Savannah, Georgia last night. What a charming little city. Music everywhere, as were people. You can almost smell the history as you walk (and trip) over the brick streets. But, what captured my daughter's attention more than anything?
The trees....
Happy Friday

"If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there." ~Lewis Carroll
So in the theme of change, we are leaving Florida for 4 weeks. After several years of searching, a few months of planning and with great daily resolve we are loading up the car and driving north. Our destination--central Virginia, and we will be visiting for 4 long, beautiful weeks near the Shenandoah Valley.
We don't know if this is where we will end up replanting our roots, but the journey itself is a step in the right direction. It is exhilarating, as well as terrifying, to shake things up a bit and invite change and challenge. We have been wanting this for a long time. For me, I have been wanting to move to the mountains for 27 years. That's a long time to wait for a dream to come true, but it's a dream that has never changed and was never doubted. How wonderful that my life partner has had the same dream.
"Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting! So...get on your way." ~Dr. Seuss
