It came in the night

I wish I was only talking about snow, but I am not. I am talking about the flu. The dreaded flu that everyone has heard about, been wary of, and praying that they never meet this season. It found it's way into our home this past weekend, carried by my husband from his plane trip last week. I was sure that I would be immune. I've been eating kale by the bunches, taking my Fire Cider recommended by this friend, exercising, popping my vitamins, drinking water, yada yada yada. But, a virus is a virus. And it will find you if you are near it. Insert evil laugh <Muahahahahah!!>  here.

YET.  All those things that I have been doing have not been in vain. This virus hit me Sunday night, I was in bed all day Monday, and today, I feel...better. Tired yes, coughing yes, but much much better. Really, a one day flu? Okay, maybe 2 days, but hey, REALLY?

I wish I could say the same for my husband, and now my son. They have been hit hard and I am playing nurse interspersed with making myself honey lemon tea (my favorite sick remedy).  My daughter was the only one that received the flu shot, and so far, other than a 99.5 temp, she has made it through without any other symptoms. Could the flu shot really be getting more accurate? This is our first use of the flu shot and I have to say, I think it's working.

Okay I'm finished with my flu narrative, here is what I did finish this weekend:

Some of the ideas came from a pattern, but it's all free hand baby. (I didn't make the felted zipper wallet, though I found a couple patterns on Ravelry if I was so inclined.) I like embroidery, I really do. But am I inching closer to finding voice? Or just distracting myself further with fun things? I don't know.

But sometimes we just have to do,
and make the time to learn,
to eventually find the know.

I feel like an under-ripened peach. I get impatient with the whole becoming bit, but when I pause to see what I've done, I do know that there is a process to it all, and that the process is part of a larger purpose...

My tummy hurts. I just made cupcakes with the girl and I ate some batter.

"You're still sick silly!!" says the voice in the back of my head.

Okay, I will go act sick now, lay around like under-ripened peaches and do nothing...........except maybe some knitting :) hee hee.

Virtual hugs to you my blogworld friends...

Be well...

A loooong weekend

Okay, so I was sick most of the weekend.  But not before we were able to go hiking at this place again with some friends. But after that,  my butt was kicked by a bad reaction to allergy medication. Go figure. I have been battling for 3 weeks the seasonal allergies here in CO, so I took Benadryll just once, only to have it knock me down for the rest of the weekend. To add worser (yes, I know) to worse, I had another allergic reaction to using Neosporin on a cut. I learned the hard way that Neosporin and Triple antibiotic can cause a terrible reaction to 30% of people who use it. So not only did I have this vicious rashy growth thing on my cut under my eyebrow, but I was confined to the bed through a long weekend of a BBQs, trips to the reservoir/beach, time with friends, and all the fun Labor day stuff that people do.
Waaahhhhh.

*sigh*

But, I did finish Mockinjay by Suzanne Collins (the final book in her Hunger Games series) in one day. I did watch Pride and Prejudice, twice. And I did relish in all the love from my 3 favorite people in the whole wide world :). Thanks for cooking, doing the dishes, cleaning the cat poop, and taking the kids everywhere my darling husband.

I am on the slow climb back up today, hallelujah.

Hope your weekend was far far better than mine...

xoxo
