Yarn Along ~ Daydreaming

Joining Ginny over at Small Things for Yarn Along:
"~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? ... ~"

So I finally did finish Raising Our Children Raising Ourselves by Naomi Aldort.  I must say it is one of the best parenting books I have ever read.  She expresses so much of what I have felt in the past year in transitioning to parenting peacefully.  To recommend this book would be an understatement.  Now on to this week's book, an oldie but goodie and I am loving it-- Reader's Digest Back to Basics.  First published in 1981, I actually remember my parents' owning this book.  It is truly a treasure with everything you ever wanted to know about homesteading.  In it's own words:

Now on the needles is naturally caron's country charcoal yarn and my goal is to have a beautifully knitted hat like this.  Didn't my friend Cory do a nice job? The pattern comes from here.  Unfortunately this hat has already been unraveled, twice. I have the beginner blues right now but I also have the beginner gusto, no pain no gain baby, it is ON!!

  1. I'll have to look into this book. My hubby brought me one called Living on an Acre that's kind of along the same lines. Now just wish I knew how to knit... *sigh*

  6. I remember pouring over that book when I was little! My parents had it, and I keep thinking I should get one just for me. Thanks for reminding me of it!

  7. I practically had that book memorized when I was a kid! I can still clearly picture entire pages and I recognized it immediately from the very first picture you posted. :)

  10. I borrowed that book from the library just two weeks ago! These yarn along posts make me want to try knitting again but instead I'm saving up for a serger as I've been on a sewing kick. One thing at a time! Okay, I never actually follow that advice, but I try.
