December Daybook

I loved Amanda's daybook, and decided to do my own. If you want to join in, see where it started here.

Today, outside my window the morning is misty and gray. When I stepped out for a moment and breathed in, the air smelled like wet leaves and left a cool drizzle on my skin.

I am thinking about our move, and how in the world I'm going to pack up all of our things.

I am thankful for the time shared with family yesterday, and all the happiness on their faces.

In the kitchen the aroma of espresso fills the room, while the hum of the refrigerator fills the quiet.

I am wearing old, baby blue pajama shorts and a white, long-sleeve shirt that reads "I'm addicted to group fitness".

I am creating a movie star scarf, which I am renaming to Florida scarf, since style trumps the need for warmth.

I am going to clean this morning, excited for friends from Chicago to arrive tomorrow.

I am wondering what it will be like living in Colorado, knowing it's in the 20's there now, and 70's here in FL.

I am reading Hold Onto Your Kids and am excited to add A Dog's Purpose today (A-mazing reviews).

I am hoping that I will eat better today, after all the cheeses, olives, pate, chocolates, wine, whiskey eggnog, cake and custard I had yesterday (a delicious dairy and yeast nightmare).

I am looking forward to walking the old streets of St. Augustine again later this week, this time with my hubs and babes.

I am hearing the clicking and the snapping of boy who just woke up and went straight to building his new Lego.

Around the house, there are opened gifts and wrapping scattered everywhere, leftover reminders of a spirited day.

I am pondering about finding time to use Holga, now sitting under the tree.

One of my favorite things is having my husband home all week, and sneaking some time alone with him.

A few plans for the rest of the week include seeing old friends, watching new movies, filling the house with boxes, a mini road trip, knitting, reading, and photography :).

A picture for thought...

Here here to the last week of 2011!! I hope the joy continues for all of you...

xoxo

  4. sounds like you're having a good wrap-up to 2011 and living in orlando with your family and friends nearby. i'm sure you'll all transition nicely into colorado living. the snow, cold, etc. will be fun and don't forget colorado is "the sunshine state" so it's not going to be dreary, gray and depressing with colder temps. that's why i think i would be fine in colorado - being a warm blooded california girl. happy new year and best of luck in 2012!

  7. Sounds like you have spent some lovely days with those you love. Packing up a house is always daunting isn't it! If I lived a bit closer, I'd offer my help. I have been lucky enough with our last two moves that I have had a couple of lovely friends come and help out. May 2012 be filled with the most grand adventures for you and your lovely family. I have enjoyed visiting your blog this year and feel like you are a very dear friend indeed. Jacinta xx

  9. oh yah...i forgot to share my #1 packing & moving tip...let it go! (toss it. donate it. set yourself free.) that is my most favorite side effect from moving...the massive purge of all the stuff you don't need in your new life. :) happy sorting!

  10. My brother and sis-n-law used to live near Boulder in Louisville. We visited a couple of times and it is so beautiful - and yes, COLD! But that will just give you an excuse for some cute cozy clothes. ;)

  11. Lovely post - what a wonderful idea.

Moving is daunting (especially to a new climate), but Colorado is wonderful. My brother lives in Durango, and my daughter is in Denver, and they adore it. Just think - no more humidity! :)

  12. I can't imagine having to pack up my home right now...though the idea of someplace new and a fresh start is always appealing to me (I could have been a gypsy). Love this day book idea.

  18. loving the burning sage- cleansing smoke smells divine.

do you prefer the holga over diana? I've always wanted to get one, but could never decide on which.

I loathe packing for a big move, but the last time we relocated a friend mentioned how nice it must be to start over and it stuck with me while we were packing. More boxes ended up going to Goodwill than to us. It was motivating and I think I packed up in record speed. :)
