Going going, always going somewhere...I shouldn't be sitting her right now, but I am, and I will be late to where I am going, again.
In the car, when I listen, I alternate between books, music and silence. One headphone only of course. I received a ticket once for listening with both headphones while driving. She said that it was dangerous in case I couldn't hear emergency vehicles. I told her I could see and hear her just fine. She didn't like that very much.
Lately it's been mostly music, mostly Florence. I love how the music we choose to listen to in a given moment reflects how we feel at the time. Quiet and reflective, dark and sad, happy and energetic....What I get from Florence is something passionate, wild, powerful, sometimes dark, even rebellious.
I think I'll wear both headphones today...
and you? what are you listening to right now?
wishing you insightfulness ...
xo
i seem to be drawn to quite gentle songs today, with great harmonies.
ReplyDeletei've been listening to lisa hannigan, jeremy messersmith, and the decemberists on tiny desk concerts! been meaning to post about it. perhaps this morning if i can get it in before the boy wakes up!
ReplyDeletei'm currently listening to my Lisa Gerrard station on Pandora, which is deeply soul-stirring...but i wanted to say that i love florence, too. her rawness and tribalness sometimes just get me where i need to be gotten, you know?
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm listening to Christmas music! These days, we mostly listen to kids music :\ I do hope someday to once again listen to what I like, and hopefully discover some new types of music as well.

The music I listen to is hugely affected by the mood Im in and what I'm doing and vice versa. At the moment I'm listening alot to Tama Impala, particularly love the track "It's not meant to be". Now I want to listen to Florence! I have been listening almost exclusively to my "Hey Guys, It's Christmastime!" station on Pandora. A bit of variety may be in order.
ReplyDeleteI love Cortnie's advice above, too :) You rebel, you.
Love Florence! I'm lovin' Pistol Annies these days. Laughed out loud reading your comment to the the police officer. Yeah, that probably didn't go over to well. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhy are the police so serious all the time?
