the power of sound

"Next to silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music."
~Aldous Huxley

For when I need to shut everything out...

For when there needs to be dance and joy...

For when the air is cool and the road is long...

For when sadness looms and there is no choice but to embrace...

For getting lost in the need to create...for passion's sake...

(not an official video, but the best I could find :)

Joining Monica for the 5 senses tour...

None are new, yet they are the current fibers I stretch
and rely upon to feel whole again.

And your go-to's?

ps. Thanks for all the input on the blogger design change. I changed it back by 10pm last night. It didn't feel quite right, less personal...back to the drawing board :).

  1. Okay,I like this design *much* better, and I didn't dislike the other! That header photo is gorgeous, and I love the background color as well. So perfect.

I love your musical five senses tour, too. I have had music, and what it does for me emotionally, on my mind a lot the past few days. I see I'm not the only one!

  2. I agree - music can touch the soul. It also helps get the dishes done, run an extra half a mile, bring tears to your eyes, relive memories.........your header photo and title bring me back to my childhood.

  3. so i'll bookmark and return. lol

still waiting on the 'net thing but looks hopeful.

  4. Ah, your blog seems like home. Love your header and the background color!! Thanks for the links :)

  5. LOVE the new header. And such wonderful music. My go-to music is from the 80's and 90s because I leave in a bubble that closed around 1995...So we're talking Indigo Girls, Eurythmics, Morrissey, Psychadelic Furs and David Bowie (or his he more 70's? In which case, ABBA must be included). xoxo

  6. I always enjoy your blog "look" - love the new pic- great autumn feel going on - groovin to your Edward Sharp & wondering what in the heck ever happened to my tambourine????

  7. Thanks for the great music via YouTube...which begs the question DOES anyone even watch MTV any more? Anyway, I love coldplay and that one song for "the need to create" was beautiful.
I listened to them while doing my goodreads updates. (husband just showed me how to create a new tab so you can keep a page open without losing it: i am not very web savvy). And speaking of books, I checked out that "Rip the Page" book you mentioned in your last post, thanks for the handy dandy link. My two big girls are starting to write their own stories, and I love it. Think I may add that to my "need to buy list". Hope your son sticks with it.
    Congrats on your home closing.

  8. I didn't have time to listen to all, but that mumford and sons song was so beautiful and haunting! Ah music...air, water. food, love, music. In that order i think!

  9. you outdid yourself with the links sweetie! thank you. love them all, but mostly coldplay (i walked down the aisle to green eyes *sigh*) and mumford and sons, just saw them at the santa barbara bowl this summer. my background peaceful music is sigor ros, and for fun i LOVE

p.s. i'm still giggling over your crap poo comment over at amanda's. haha.

  10. well darn it. the connection is still too slow to really get stuck in. takes ages. but with more bandwidth i can sneak one...

    LOVED the first one.

  11. Love "Shake it Out"!!! That was my song on October 30-31. I still can not enough it. Woohoo!

  12. ooooh, some of my favorite bands...great taste mj!! ;) hoping to tackle mumford + sons, the cave on the guitar next.
